6-12 inStill Learning Experience: Art and Ideas

Description

Students in grades 6-12 will look closely at Clyfford Still's art to help them explore their own identity and ideas. During an inStill visit, school groups will split up into small groups led by a diverse group of CSM educators that will facilitate community building and a set of creative, hands-on workshops. Each of our workshops is developed based on our big ideas for the age group:

⏺ I belong in creative spaces that allow me to be myself and connect with others.
⏺ I can be creative. Creativity looks unique to each person.
Art can support me in the lifelong effort of learning about myself and others.
⏺ Every artist will receive a sketchbook to record their ideas and observations during and after their museum visit.

Every artist will receive a sketchbook to record their ideas and observations during and after their museum visit. Visiting the Clyfford Still Museum addresses multiple standards for the State of Colorado, Core Standards, and CASEL Social-Emotional Learning Framework.

Offered At

Clyfford Still Museum

The Clyfford Still Museum allows visitors the unique experience to explore the art and legacy of the painter Clyfford Still, who had a unique artistic vision that he was unwilling to compromise for money or recognition. Still painted with colors, lines, and shapes on huge canvases to invite viewers to “step into” and experience his paintings as worlds of their own. He did not name his artworks because he wanted everyone to make their own interpretations about the art, so we keep in mind that there are no right or wrong ideas while we explore abstraction together!

Come explore awe-inspiring art and joyful hands-on experiences with your class during our inStill program. The inStill program happens in the museum galleries, located in the heart of Denver’s Golden Triangle Creative District. Our learning and engagement team can also come visit your classroom with our inStill To Go program, or connect over an inStill Live virtual experience.

During all of our programs, students will receive a sketchbook and a pass to return with their families for free. All of our programs are designed with accessibility in mind, and our educators are eager to accommodate the specific needs of your classroom. CSM has Bilingual educators to provide Spanish support and instruction. Bus funding is available.
