An Afternoon Into the Past
Description
The Byers-Evans House Museum, a community museum of History Colorado, offers a wonderful educational program that has been designed with 3rd and 4th grade learners in mind. We have designed our educational tour, An Afternoon into the Past, to be engaging for your students. Before your field trip, we will send a packet to you with learning materials, including a “character card” for each student. Your students will have the chance to learn about the house and their characters before they arrive, and then act out their character on the tour by wearing a costume, reading from their card, and performing a hands-on activity. It’s a great way for your students to experience life in Denver at the beginning of the twentieth century.
*If you are looking to plan for the day please inquire about our Joint Field Trip options with the History Colorado Center or the Molly Brown House Museum. These programs alternate student groups at our location and theirs. This is a great way to accommodate a larger number of students and allows your students to experience more of Denver History on their trip!

Center for Colorado Women's History at the Byers-Evans House Museum
The Center for Colorado Women’s History focuses on scholarship, research, lectures, tours and exhibits that expand the understanding and collective memory of the history of women in Colorado. Most importantly, the Center is connecting local stories to the broader stories of women’s history worldwide.
The Byers-Evans House has been the home to inspiring women since 1883. It has been beautifully restored to the era of 1912-1924 and is furnished with the Evans family's belongings. Guided house tours weave together the stories of the many women who lived and worked in the home and the impact of the families on early Denver.
