Learn how Colorado came to be settled, from a railroad point of view! Students "lay" track before trying the routes out for themselves gaining a better understanding of settlement patterns and geography along the way.
Railroads have been expanding our world here in Colorado for over 150 years! Not only have railroads sparked innovation but they played an integral role in westward expansion, accelerating settlement, and helping shape our state’s economy. This open-air museum covers 15 acres and provides multiple educational opportunities including standard-based field trips, workshops, digital lesson plans, and tours to learn how trains have been transforming our state since the 1870s.
