Try top-rope climbing on our indoor wall at the American Mountaineering Center. Students over 11 years of age may also learn to belay depending on group size and length or programming. Climbing can be combined with a Science of Climbing class, slacklining, team building, or the Mountaineering Museum.
The Colorado Mountain Club, based in Golden, was organized in 1912 and is dedicated to uniting adventure, education, and preservation of Colorado's mountains. The Youth Education Program (YEP) of the CMC provides hands-on experiences in the classroom and outdoors for over 7,000 Colorado youth from diverse backgrounds every year. By providing opportunities for active learning through experiential and adventure education, YEP ignites a connection to the outdoors for Colorado youth. Furthermore, YEP connects Colorado Academic Standards with the mountains, providing a unique avenue for improving academic skills. Programs take place at your school, the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, or a local open space or park. Many program options can be combined to create a unique day-long program.
