In spring 2024, we worked with eleven preschool teachers at seven schools and ECE centers. Participating teachers explored the Museum and Clyfford Still’s artwork, then developed a test experience to try with their students. Students looked, moved, painted, felt, played, and explored. Teachers provided feedback about their experiment and their recommendations for the Museum’s first pre-k experiences. We have designed this pilot experience based on their findings and suggestions.
Full implementation of Pre-K experiences will begin January 2025. In the fall of 2024, we invite teachers to experience our pilot lesson and provide feedback to ensure that our workshops are fun, developmentally appropriate, and responsive to schools’ needs. To participate as a pilot school, fill out the form on the request page.
The Clyfford Still Museum allows visitors the unique experience to explore the art and legacy of the painter Clyfford Still, who had a unique artistic vision that he was unwilling to compromise for money or recognition. Still painted with colors, lines, and shapes on huge canvases to invite viewers to “step into” and experience his paintings as worlds of their own. He did not name his artworks because he wanted everyone to make their own interpretations about the art, so we keep in mind that there are no right or wrong ideas while we explore abstraction together!
Come explore awe-inspiring art and joyful hands-on experiences with your class during our inStill program. The inStill program happens in the museum galleries, located in the heart of Denver’s Golden Triangle Creative District. Our learning and engagement team can also come visit your classroom with our inStill To Go program, or connect over an inStill Live virtual experience.
During all of our programs, students will receive a sketchbook and a pass to return with their families for free. All of our programs are designed with accessibility in mind, and our educators are eager to accommodate the specific needs of your classroom. CSM has Bilingual educators to provide Spanish support and instruction. Bus funding is available.
