In this first step of SOLID, the Saint Louis Science Center presents to students about the science of sound. Topics include sound through vibration, how sound travels as a compression wave, and how each sound has a unique frequency and amplitude. Students are engaged throughout the presentation with live demonstrations and activities.
Since its construction in 1912, The Sheldon has housed great thinkers, creators, artists and leaders, first as the home of the Ethical Society, now as what it has evolved to be: the premier destination for the arts in the St. Louis area and beyond.
School programming at The Sheldon includes an educational concert series, STEAM classroom programs, and gallery visits.
