Description

Virtually visit for an interactive, in-depth look at the Dole Institute and Archives. The museum gallery highlights Senator Bob Dole’s legacy and career of over 35 years representing Kansas in Congress. The Dole Institute is also home to the world’s largest stained glass American flag, Veteran’s Memory Wall with over 1,000 pictures of Kansas WWII veterans, and two beams from the World Trade Center, a memorial to the victims of 9-11. Also, go behind the scenes to see where one of the country’s largest congressional collections is stored and learn about archives.

The Dole Institute of Politics

The Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics celebrates public service and promotes civil discourse and the legacy of Senator Bob Dole by providing public programming, research and educational opportunities, a museum gallery, and other offerings. Museum gallery features include the world’s largest stained-glass American flag, the brand-new Kansas Veterans Virtual Memory Wall and World Trade Center beams. It is home to the Robert and Elizabeth Dole Archive & Special Collections, which includes over 35 years of congressional papers, as well as objects and materials that highlight the leadership legacies of Senators Bob and Elizabeth Dole.

The mission of the Dole Institute of Politics is to promote political and civic participation as well as civil discourse in a bi-partisan, balanced manner.

The Dole Institute offers a variety of educational programming to fit the needs of K-12 students, including onsite visits to the Dole Institute, outreach visits into your classroom, or online access to our digital archives!

ON-SITE
Visit the Dole Institute of Politics with your K-12 class or homeschool group for a personalized session focusing on the leadership and legacy of Senator Bob Dole. Field trips are available year-round. Bring your class or group for a guided tour of the gallery, archives, and more!

OUTREACH
The Dole Institute can bring the archives to you! Our public education coordinator can visit your classroom for a customized workshop focusing on primary sources from the Dole Archive. Any of these programs are also available as an on-site activity. Click here to view documents used in this dynamic workshop.

ONLINE
Access the digital archive collections online for thousands of digital documents and photographs. We are slowly digitizing our materials – at about 85,000 pages, we are only 1% complete! Authentic primary sources are an excellent use of resources for Kansas College and Career Ready Standards.
