Explore Colorado's watersheds through experiments in your classroom and/or take a field trip outside on our stream ecology field study. Choose 1 or both of the following options:
Nature's Water Filter (Indoor): How does nature provide ecosystem services and clean water? Discover how nature works as a water filter through indoor classroom experimentation and design!
Stream Ecology Field Study: Visit a local watershed and explore the health of a stream's ecosystem through macroinvertebrate surveys and water quality tests.

Colorado Mountain Club
The Colorado Mountain Club, based in Golden, was organized in 1912 and is dedicated to uniting adventure, education, and preservation of Colorado's mountains. The Youth Education Program (YEP) of the CMC provides hands-on experiences in the classroom and outdoors for over 7,000 Colorado youth from diverse backgrounds every year. By providing opportunities for active learning through experiential and adventure education, YEP ignites a connection to the outdoors for Colorado youth. Furthermore, YEP connects Colorado Academic Standards with the mountains, providing a unique avenue for improving academic skills. Programs take place at your school, the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, or a local open space or park. Many program options can be combined to create a unique day-long program.
