Using primary documents and objects as well as hands-on activities, students explore the impact of railroads on westward expansion during the 19th and 20th centuries - gaining a greater understanding of their influence on the United States and Colorado history.
Cost: $4 per child, ages 2-15. Supervisors receive free Museum admission.
Railroads have been expanding our world here in Colorado for over 150 years! Not only have railroads sparked innovation but they played an integral role in westward expansion, accelerating settlement, and helping shape our state’s economy. This open-air museum covers 15 acres and provides multiple educational opportunities including standard-based field trips, workshops, digital lesson plans, and tours to learn how trains have been transforming our state since the 1870s.
