Description

Kids want to have fun. Grownups want them to learn. Field trips at Chicago Children’s Museum let them do both.

CCM field trips let students put their classroom knowledge to work. Our exhibits and experiences provide hands-on engagement with subjects like math, language, science, and engineering—combined with education-rich, play-filled activities.

What is included in a group visit to CCM?

  • All field trips are 2 hours long.
  • Admission to all of our exhibit spaces, including Cloud Buster, Climbing Schooner, Play it Safe, Kids Town, Michael’s Museum, Skyline, Dinosaur Expedition, and our current rotating exhibit in Crown Gallery.
  • NOW OPEN: Moen Presents Water City! A new water experience featuring a miniature Chicago cityscape where rivers and channels meander between skyscrapers that will immerse visitors in falling, flowing, sprinkling, pooling, squirting, and misting water.
  • Orientation to the museum by CCM staff in our Group Center.
  • Play & Learning Facilitators, our experts in play, who help keep your group safe and engaged to maximize your experience.
  • Secure storage for clothing items and lunches (unrefrigerated).

Lunch Notes

  • CCM does not have a designated lunch area inside the museum.
  • Your group is welcome to eat inside the Navy Pier food court, where seating is ample and first-come, first-served.
  • We recommend eating before or after your field trip time to make the most of your 2-hour visit. We HIGHLY discourage exiting and reentering the museum as this limits your time to play.
  • You can save time entering the museum if you consolidate your lunches into bigger bags or boxes instead of having each child carry their own.

Bathroom Notes

Water fountains and restrooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the museum, including gendered, multi-stall bathrooms with children's height toilets and single-occupancy all-gender bathrooms. All bathrooms and water fountains are accessible.

Cancellation Policy

CCM does not require a down payment or charge a cancellation fee. If you need to cancel, please do so at least 2 weeks prior to your scheduled visit. CCM cannot guarantee availability for rebooking after cancellation.

Payment

We accept the following forms of payment:

  1. Purchase order (Chicago Public Schools only; use Vendor Number 72216)
  2. Check Make checks payable to: Chicago Children’s Museum PO Box 8255 Carol Stream, IL 60197-8255
  3. Credit card (on site or over the phone during open hours only)
  4. Cash (on site only)

If, on the day of your visit, you have more visitors in your group than originally planned, we will require additional payment for those individuals.

To confirm payment via purchase order, or to inquire further contact us at CCMResevations@ChicagoChildrensMuseum.org.

Chaperones

We require a MINIMUM adult-to-child ratio of 1:5, but you are welcome and encouraged to bring more grown-ups! If your group does not have adequate adult supervision, you will be asked to reschedule your visit.

Our first rule at the museum is STAY TOGETHER, PLAY TOGETHER. Before exploring the exhibits, your large group will split into small groups of a single chaperone and their kiddos. This helps ensure your safety and enjoyment of the museum by preventing overcrowding of a single exhibit.

You can find these details in our Group Leader Info and Chaperone Tips, too.
