Muse Knoxville is a children’s Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math (STEAM) museum in Chilhowee Park. Our programs in the museum, schools across East Tennessee, & throughout Knoxville bring STEAM, the arts, health & wellness & emergent literacy to life in children’s minds.

Field Trips

Our field trips are 2.5 hours and includes 45 minute each of classroom lesson, planetarium show and free play on the museum floor. Each day Muse Knoxville can accommodate up to 3 groups (classes) per day.

Family Programs

STEAM Nights and Activities include: two hours of thematic programming for 150 people at your location, five STEAM-based activities, Muse Outreach Educators to facilitate, training for volunteers, and optional “add-ons.”


Lunch Notes

We currently do not have space in our building for group lunches however we are nestled in Chilhowee Park which offers additional outdoor space, a pavilion with tables and additional restrooms. Most of our field trip guest take advantage of this space before returning to school.

Bathroom Notes

We have a boys and girls restrooms with 3 stalls and a sink in each. We have additional sinks outside the bathroom for washing up. Changing station in each bathroom with an additional station in the sink area.

Cancellation Policy

Please let us know if you must cancel or change your field trip plans as soon as possible.

  • Field trips canceled or postponed less than 14 days of scheduled trip will be subject to a $50 administrative fee.
  • “No-show” field trips will be subject to a $100 administrative fee.
  • Cancellations or rescheduled trips due to weather that closes or delays school will not result in a fee.
  • Late arrivals may result in a reduction of field trip programming.

We will make every possible attempt to reschedule trips canceled because of weather.

Payments for field trips are due on or before arrival.
Family Programs will be invoiced after the event and final count is received. Invoices are expected to be paid within 15 days

Field Trip Pricing
- Class teachers are admitted FREE for the field trip. (3 per group)
- Students (and up to 3 additional adults) $7 each if fees are paid
through the school.
- Field trip fees cover scheduled time only.

STEAM Night Pricing
- $360 for up to 150 people (email for package options for larger groups)
- $2/person over 150
- Mileage based on distance from Muse Knoxville to STEAM Night location:

46-65.9 miles - $78.00
69-90.9 miles - $108.00

Muse Knoxville is a place for everyone! We offer reduced pricing and scholarships based on school need. If you feel your school/organization qualifies please select the scholarship rate option.

Chaperones

  • Classroom teachers are free up to 3. Please reach out if you need
    additional accommodations
  • Up to 3 additional chaperones per group can pay through the
    school/organization for a reduce rate of $7/per person. All other
    chaperones will pay $12 each at the door the day of the field trip.
  • Muse Memberships and other discounts are not eligible for Field Trip Programing.
  • Siblings are welcome however they will not be permitted in the classroom and subject to full admission price upon arrival for those over 11 months.

PreK Free Play

Children’s natural curiosity will emerge at Muse Knoxville as they instinctively role-play, make observations, question, explore, and create. Free Play experience offered only to PreK groups gets your students out of the classroom and allows them additional time on the museum floor for learning through play! In addition to free-play students will enjoy a Planetarium show.
