Nowashe Village is a permanent outdoor museum of Indigenous life, set on nearly 1 acre. It features two wigwams, a classroom-sized Sachem’s House lined with cedar benches, a Three Sisters garden, multiple gathering spaces and woodland trails lined with ethno-botanical plantings. Nowashe Village is owned and operated by the Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum, and is located directly behind Wood Memorial Library, where thousands of local artifacts and ecofacts are on display. Nowashe is open for private fieldtrips seven days a week by appointment.

Lunch Notes

Private groups are welcome to enjoy lunch outside on the lawn or inside Wood Memorial Library.

Bathroom Notes

The trails in Nowashe Village are wide and meant to be as smooth as possible for all ages and abilities. However, we suggest you wear appropriate footwear to walk outside on grass or uneven ground. Check the weather before you come as well! Nowashe Village is sprayed regularly for mosquitos and ticks, but we encourage visitors to bring their own bug spray as well.
